Afghanistan: Gunmen attack Jalalabad TV station

At least six people have been killed, including a police officer, after several gunmen wearing suicide vests stormed a national television and radio station in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad, police said.
The attackers, which carried AK-47s, entered Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA) on Wednesday, in the latest assault on media workers in the country.
Two of them detonated their explosives up at the start of the siege, but a third engaged security forces in a heavy gun battle before being killed after several hours.
The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group claimed responsibility for the attack.
"Three attackers are dead and so are three other people, John Hendren, reporting from Afghanistan's capital, Kabul, said quoting police officials.
At least 16 people, including journalists, were wounded in the attack, which took place in central Jalalabad, close to the provincial governor's office and a busy square, Hendren said.
Jalalabad is the capital of Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, on the eastern border with Pakistan.
ISIL's so-called Khorasan branch, which was formed two years ago by former Taliban defectors, has captured territory in the province and has launched other attacks.
The armed group is also trying to get a foothold in the north, where it has been trying to forge links with Central Asian, Chechen and Chinese Uighur fighters.
But it has come under a lot of pressure from the Afghan army, NATO forces and the Taliban.
