MASSOB shuts down Owerri, celebrates Independence Day.

- The supporters said they are celebrating the Independence of Biafra

 - The protesters includes women and children who filled the streets of Owerri Owerri, Imo state capital city, is currently on locked by members of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereignty State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Biafra Independent Movement (BIM).

 The two groups have stormed the streets of Owerri in a march to celebrate the Biafra Independence Day. 

Members of the group in their score said arrived Owerri in buses from the 27 local government area across the state. 

The Punch reports that the groups' members in a commando-like style stormed the Douglas road, Owerri at about 8 am on Monday, May 22.

The protesters also chanted, “on Biafra we stand”. 

Image result for pictures of biafran protest in imo state todaySpeaking on the protest, the leader of the MASSOB group, Ralph Uwuzuruike claiming responsibility for the protest said it is a proof of his unfailing commitment to the actualization of Biafra.

He said: “I challenge anybody who claims to be a higher command and authority than myself in the struggle to actualize Biafra to come out and prove his mettle. 

Of course, nobody, group, or association can do this because they lack the capacity and membership to do so." 

While expressing satisfaction with the protest, Uwazuruike said he is optimistic that the Biafra project will be actualized soon. 

The group also cautioned its members against any form of involvement in business or work related activities. IPOB said the protest will be observed in honour of Biafra heroes who died during the Nigerian-Biafra civil war.
