The extraordinary moment a courageous teen boy saves a dying cygnet by giving it mouth-to-mouth has been caught on camera.
Joshua Martin, 15, pulled the cygnet – now named Clokey – from the water after it had been trapped in fishing wire.
He rushed it to his aunt’s car so they could race to Melbourne Bird Veterinary Clinic.
As they drove to the clinic, the young lad rubbed the cygnet’s chest and gave it mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
His aunt, Carla Penn, who runs a wildlife shelter, believes Josh’s actions saved the life of the cygnet found at Endeavour Lakes in south Australia.
She said: “If we were a minute later in getting him out of the water and if Joshua hadn’t given him mouth-to-mouth [resuscitation] he would have died.
“He was that stiff and cold we thought he was already gone.
