Reports say that a male Boko Haram bomber has again attacked the University of
Maiduguri barely 48 hours after the tertiary institution was attacked by female bombers. Sahara Reporters writes that the bomber attempted to bomb another students' hostel at the university.
The report quoted a source as saying that the bomber detonated his bomber just behind the Demonstration Secondary School at the university at the back of E.T.F hall which is a hostel full of students.
The online news medium furthers security guards at the school as saying that only the bomber died in the explosion.
The bomber detonated his explosive device just outside the perimeter fencing of the school.
It quoted the Borno State police commissioner Damian Chukwu as saying the incident happened at about 10 a.m.
The bomber, he said, hid near UNIMAID’s Children Secondary School and exploded his
device when a security man came in his direction. He confirmed Sahara Reporters report
that only the bomber died. Premium Times reports that the attack is the third at the
university in less than two weeks and has caused tension among students and staff.
It has however heightened tension in the campus, as students and staffers alike expressed worries over the frequent attacks there.
On Friday, May 19 that Boko Haram bombers launched two separate attacks at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) killing a guard at the institution.
The attacks were carried out on the night of Thursday, May 18, and in the early morning of Friday, May 19. Abu Babati who is the president of the student union government of the university confirmed the attack
